WALKING, LIMPING AND BALANCING

MJARNI_WHKIRSTY_0345.jpg

Dr. Kirsty Greenwood (osteopath) emphasises the importance of checking a child as they learn to walk.

Some children may experience in-toeing, knocked knees, frequent tripping, or balance issues. When these concerns arise, it’s crucial to investigate any underlying physical imbalances in the pelvis, legs, or feet that could be contributing to the issue.

If a child develops a limp, it’s important to explore the cause, as some conditions may be minor and resolve on their own, while others could be more serious, needing a full orthopaedic assessment or even surgery. A limp that persists should never be ignored.

As osteopaths, we thoroughly assess your child, refer for x-rays when needed, and provide treatment where applicable. If necessary, we’ll refer you to a GP or specialist to ensure your child gets the right care.
