CONDITIONS WE TREAT
Bursitis
Joint pain from an irritated bursa, or fluid filled sack, that flares with pressure or repetitive movement.

WHAT IS IT?
Understanding tendon conditions
Bursitis refers to inflammation or irritation of a bursa, the small fluid-filled sac that reduces friction between bone, muscle, and tendon around a joint.
It's often triggered by repetitive movement, sustained pressure, or a change in load or activity, and while it's a different tissue and mechanism from a tendon condition, the two can often coexist around the same joint.
WHO IT HELPS
You might recognise this
Localised pain and tenderness over a joint, often worse with direct pressure, sustained positions like side-lying, or repetitive movement. Bursitis is associated with irritation of the fluid-filled sac that cushions a joint, and tends to respond well to load management alongside targeted treatment.

Common complaints:
-
Trochanteric (hip) bursitis
-
Subacromial (shoulder) bursitis
-
Olecranon (elbow) bursitis
-
Prepatellar (knee) bursitis
HOW WE TREAT IT
Our approach
Treatment focuses on reducing irritation to the bursa while addressing the movement pattern or load contributing to it.
Depending on your presentation, we may use shockwave therapy, manual therapy, and a gradual return to the aggravating activity or position.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Your first appointment
Your first session includes an assessment of the affected joint and the positions or movements that aggravate it. We'll talk through what's actually irritating the bursa and how to reduce that load without avoiding movement altogether.

From there, we build a plan to manage the irritation while keeping you moving.
