Paediatic Osteopathy Northern Melbourne

If you're looking for paediatric osteopathy in Melbourne's northern suburbs, Whole Health Osteo & Rehab offers specialist care for newborns, babies, toddlers, and children at our South Morang and Eltham clinics.

Our paediatric osteopath, Dr Kirsty Greenwood, is an Advanced Paediatric Osteopath with over 22 years of clinical experience. She has a published research background and is currently undertaking a PhD focused on infant feeding difficulty and the mother-infant dyad. Alongside Kirsty, our broader osteopathy team sees children for a wide range of presentations.

WHO WE SEE

Understanding paediatric osteopathy

Paediatric osteopathy may assist with a range of concerns in babies, toddlers, and older children. At Whole Health Osteo & Rehab, we commonly work with:

Newborns and babies

  • Unsettled behaviour, difficulty settling, or frequent waking

  • Feeding difficulties, including difficulty latching, preference for one breast, or tiring quickly during feeds

  • Torticollis (head tilting or turning preference)

  • Plagiocephaly (head flattening or asymmetry)

  • Reflux and digestive discomfort

  • Birth trauma, including presentations following forceps, ventouse, or caesarean delivery

  • Restricted neck or jaw movement

Toddlers and children

  • Growing pains and limb discomfort

  • Postural concerns

  • Headaches

  • Musculoskeletal pain following falls, sport, or injury

  • Developmental movement concerns

  • Retained primitive reflexes

As with all healthcare, osteopathic care is used alongside medical management where appropriate. Treatment is always gentle, individualised, and paced to your child's tolerance.

Booking

Paediatric osteopathy appointments are available at both our South Morang and Eltham clinics. New patients are welcome. You can book online at wholehealthosteo.com or contact the clinic directly.

HOW WE TREAT IT

Our approach

Paediatric osteopathy at Whole Health Osteo & Rehab uses gentle, hands-on techniques suited to the developing body. Techniques may include cranial osteopathy, biodynamic osteopathy, soft tissue work, and gentle articulation. We never use the same forceful techniques used in adult osteopathic care.

Dr Kirsty Greenwood works with a calm, patient-led approach. She takes time to understand your child's full history, works collaboratively with parents, and communicates openly about what she finds and what she recommends. Where appropriate, she will refer to or work alongside other members of your child's healthcare team.
